Greek treats as Mamma Mia! film launches
A Greek island, questionable parentage and ABBA. What more could you want from a West End musical? Mamma Mia!, based on the hits of Swedish group ABBA, has been thrilling fans from around the world at the Prince Of Wales theatre, one of Mackintoshs’ favourite venues, since it’s opening in 1999.
On Monday 30th June a new film, based on the hit musical, was launched in Leicester Square to rave reviews and to celebrate the occasion the cast of the West End show had their own party, catered by Mackintoshs. In keeping with the theme of the show a Greek buffet was created with traditional fare such as pitta breads with freshly made tzatziki, taramasalata and houmous alongside a few more exotic treats like aubergine caviar, stuffed vine leaves and spiced lamb koftas. So, while the likes of Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Julie Walters enjoyed their moment in the limelight on the red carpet at the Odeon Leicester Square, the cast at the Prince Of Wales were having their own fun, only with much tastier food!
