Welcome to Mackintosh's July Newsletter
According to public records July is on average the hottest month of the year...according to BBC radio on 9th July it rained a month of water in 1 day. Confused? Us too but there is good news to be had here. Firstly, being British Lewis Hamilton is most adept at driving in the rain and secondly, the combination of sun and rain means plenty of growth in the garden and supersized, delicious vegetables should soon be winging their way to a market near you!
On a different note, it is always slightly disconcerting when you hear the word Christmas at the height of summer. It seems as though people are wishing the good weather away and have a natural desire to return to a state of hibernation and melancholy. Depressing indeed, however if you are looking to arrange your office Christmas party then you had better get a move on because all of the top venues are going fast. If you need to arrange a Christmas bash and don’t know where to start or would just like a bit of assistance then give us a call on 020 8453 1020 or visit us at www.mackintoshs.co.uk and let us take the pressure off you.

Greek treats as Mamma Mia! film launches
A Greek island, questionable parentage and ABBA. What more could you want from a West End musical? Mamma Mia!, based on the hits of Swedish group ABBA, has been thrilling fans from around the world at the Prince Of Wales theatre, one of Mackintosh's favourite venues, since it’s opening in 1999.
Burgundy Wine Tasting in partnership with Quintessentially Wine
In the prestigious setting of New Bond Street lies the Opera Gallery with its collection of high-end contemporary and modern painting and sculpture. On 24th June, Mackintosh's was privileged to have the opportunity to work in this fantastic venue as we got together with our favourite grape aficionados, Quintessentially Wine, to match some delicious canapés to a selection of Burgundy wines.
Presented by the acclaimed wine writer Matthew Jukes, author of the bestselling book “The Wine List 2007”, wine writer for the Daily Mail and a past winner of the International Wine & Spirit Communicator of the Year Award, each bottle was carefully matched with a canapé perfectly suited to bring out the best in the wine. With a 2004 Chassagne Montrachet, 1er Cru Morgeot perfectly matched to delicate pea, mint and truffle risotto cakes and a 2001 Gevrey-Chambertin, 1er Cru Combottes paired with Moroccan spiced lamb, aubergine caviar & apricot marmalade, guests were treated to a sensational extravaganza of the palate.
One Marylebone Road
As with previous newsletters we like to keep you informed of the variety of venues we offer for hosting your parties and here is the latest gem we have unearthed.
Formerly Holy Trinity Church, One Marylebone Road was designed by Sir John Soane. The building was deconsecrated 50 years ago and finally returned to its former glory in 2007, opening its doors as London’s most exciting new events venue.
The Soane Hall is an elegant room that holds up to 150 for a dinner/dance or 200 for a reception and is ideal for concerts, parties, conferences and exhibitions. With an application pending for a capacity increase to 350 people the full potential of this room is yet to be realized. The Baccarat Room is located on the first floor and holds 120 for a reception. A stunning room with its floor to ceiling windows and decorated with seven handmade crystal chandeliers, it is ideally suited for lunches and daytime events although is no less striking in the evening.
Running alongside the church hidden from the road is the garden which is perfect both for additional space for your event or as a space on its own. Whether a summer wedding under a marquee, a balmy evening drinks party or extra exhibition space, the garden can offer it all.
Book a party with Mackintosh’s at one of our venues before 1st October 2008 and receive a ‘pamper & polish’ gift certificate for Aveda worth £125.
