Welcome to Mackintosh's August Newsletter
The world’s greatest sporting spectacle is under way in Beijing and, unfortunately for Mackintosh’s, it appears that cooking and event planning are about the only two events that do not feature in the modern Olympics! This however has kept the month relatively free for us to prepare for September which is gearing up to be the busiest month in Mackintosh’s history.
It has also been an excellent few weeks for Mackintosh’s with regards to publicity as we have featured both in Matchbox Magazine and in the newsletter of our favourite hospitality recruitment specialists, Admiral. With the Mackintosh name spreading like wildfire everyone is enjoying exciting times in North Acton!
The growth in popularity of farmers' markets over the last few years is a reflection of the continuing interest in local produce. When farmers' markets first starting cropping up a good few years back, who could have guessed that they would become so popular?
For many the local farmers' market is now part of their weekend routine for it offers an enjoyable way of doing something which has unnecessarily become over the years a stressful, unpleasant task - their food shopping. Farmers' markets give the public somewhere to go to find great local produce all in one convenient place, and more than that - in my experience, they are usually very happy affairs with plenty of samples on offer for greedy shoppers!
Chelsea Physic Garden
Located not far from the bustle of the famous shopping street of Kings Road, Chelsea Physic Garden is London’s oldest botanic garden, a beautiful four-acre piece of living history. Founded in 1673 to train apothecaries in the healing arts, the Garden provides the perfect backdrop for any event. Over the centuries the Garden has become a showcase for plants brought back by great plant hunters like Sir Joseph Banks and Robert Fortune, making its beds a living history.
Chelsea Physic Garden is England’s second oldest botanic garden and is ideal in creating an oasis for your guests from urban life while still being located in the heart of London. From intimate events in the open Garden, to special occasions held in the Marquee, Chelsea Physic Garden can accommodate up to 500 standing for a reception or up to 325 seated in the midst of its lush greenery.
An added bonus to holding your event here is the fact that your event helps support the Garden and preserves it for future generations while continuing to educate thousands of school children about the vital role plants play in all our lives.
