Welcome to Mackintosh's June Newsletter

As the song says, 'June is busting out all over', with exceptionally warm weather for the month’s first week. However as we all know a week doesn't make a summer and by August we might be wearing jumpers! At least this year we can enjoy Wimbledon without the fear of a rain delay, or another rousing song from Sir Cliff, thanks to the new devilishly clever sliding roof! For those lucky enough to have tickets for the most famous grass court championship in the world, don't forget to indulge in the strawberries and cream as you watch Scotland’s Andy Murray battle his way to the Wimbledon final. And for those readers who are collectors of factoids, this month's 'did you know' is all about the quintessentially English dessert of strawberries and cream, which you are sure to find very interesting.

June is proving to be a very busy month for Mackintosh's, catering in London for both indoor canapé and drinks parties as well as barbecue garden parties. As always Pimms is proving to be very popular amongst our clients and therefore it seemed the obvious choice for Mackintosh's cocktail of the month. If you are planning a summer party then please have a look at Kew Palace, which is being featured as Mackintosh’s venue of the month. Whether it's inside the Palace or in the beautiful gardens it would be an ideal location for an intimate summer event. The Mackintosh events team will be very pleased to discuss with you some ideas that will be perfect for a corporate function or a private celebration. Whether it's a sit down lunch or dinner or a canapé party, Mackintosh's will make sure your guests eat and drink well and of course have fun.

Food Markets

Summer is a great time to buy fresh British produce as they are abundant and delicious. To really take advantage of this you should try and frequent one of London’s many food markets. Borough and Greenwich are two of the most famous, but why not try a more local farmers market. They are dotted around London, and the chances are there is one near you that you just may not know about. Clapham, Ealing, Marylebone, Notting Hill Gate, Queen’s Park and Wimbledon all happen regularly, to name but a few. Try searching for one near you and you may well be surprised at how much great fresh produce you can get for your money.

Venue Of The Month - Kew Palace

Built in warm red brick, Kew Palace is a welcoming place to hire for events. This was the royal residence where George III stayed when he disappeared from public life and it was here that the Royal Family gathered in 2006 for an intimate meal to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's 80th birthday. For all of its historical importance and regal elegance, Kew Palace is both stately and homely providing comfortable luxury for intimate dinner parties and drinks receptions.

The favourite royal retreat of George III and Queen Charlotte is located within the grounds of Kew Gardens, roughly seven miles from central London, easily accessible via tube (Kew Gardens) and mainline train (Kew Bridge). During the summer you can also reach Kew Gardens by riverboat from Westminster, Richmond upon Thames and Kingston upon Thames.
